I began editorial illustrations in 2006. I was inspired by two artists: Pulitzer-Prize winner Clay Bennett, whose innovative use of computer-aided design really strikes me; and Bert Monroy, who uses Photoshop to create photorealistic images that resemble photographs but are actually comprised of hundreds (and often thousands) of individually created pieces that combine to create the final image.
My work falls somewhere between the two. I refer to my work as editorial illustrations, not cartoons. My most intricate drawing was comprised of nearly 100 separate images.
